What is Reiki?

Reiki is a 2500 year old Japanese energy healing technique, which was rediscovered in the early 20th Century by Dr. Mikao Usui. It has become both a complementary and alternative approach that has been shown to relieve depression, headaches, anxiety, nausea, sleep issues, fatigue, pain and many other health challenges, in addition to elevating mood and improving overall quality of life.

How is it done?
Your practitioner will ask you what your intentions are for the session. Please let him or her know about any symptoms you want addressed or specific areas you want them to focus on. Although the touch is gentle, be sure to let them know of any current injuries or places that are sensitive.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands either directly on you or just above you to bring about healing by stimulating your body’s natural healing abilities. Crystals may also be used to enhance the treatment by helping to release emotional, mental, or energetic blocks and provide an overall balance to your chakras.

You may experience sensations of warmth or tingling. Some people report seeing visualizations of vivid colors or pictures, while some may have memories surface. Try to allow whatever arises to pass without attaching too much meaning to it. Your experiences and healing may become deeper the more frequently you have Reiki done.

Is Reiki Safe?

Yes, it is completely safe and does not have any harmful side effects or contraindications. However, it is not intended to replace any doctor-approved treatment plan.

What to expect after your appointment
It is important that you hydrate yourself well afterwards. You may feel an energy boost, more peaceful and calm, but may also feel tired and need to rest.
